Review Time!

I've gotten out of the drugstore and waltzed my way down to the semi-high end spectrum of the makeup world, and I'm kind of stoked about it. I've wanted to try a new foundation for a while because while I've been a dedicated wearer of Revlon's ColourStay for about three years now, my skin has changed and it's just not working for me anymore. I also figured that while I'm movin' on up, I may as well get myself a flawless base also!

I tried to swatch them, but I just do not have the kind of hands that look nice in swatch photos so I'll just have to settle on describing them as well as I possibly can, and by utilising the Mecca websites product descriptions. The primer is as follows:

'An award-winning oil-free primer that controls the look of shine and oil whilst extending the wear of your makeup. The revolutionary formula is infused with a blend of vitamins, peptides and antioxidants to absorb oil and mattify skin, whilst light diffusers minimise the appearance of imperfections.'
And the foundation:

'Designed to withstand the heat of professional sets, this popular long-wear foundation contains light-diffusing spheres designed to blur and camouflage imperfections. The foundation also features a water, sweat and humidity resistant formula ensures that your skin appears flawless for up to fifteen hours. Oil-free'

I love the texture of both of these products, and I love love love the primer! It has quite a light, thin consistency, so it dries on my face straight away and it makes it feel super smooth and velvety. I have quite visible pores across my nose and cheeks, and this primer blurs them out better than any other primer I've tried before. It also feels really cool and refreshing when applied, which is going to be super nice in the hot Australian summer months.

I got the foundation in 1.1, the lightest shade, and when I pump it out onto my hand it looks like it would be too dark, but when applied it melts into my face and matches perfectly. It's a little bit sticky, but once it warms up it's very easy to blend with a combination of my fingers and a sponge. The pump doesn't give out a lot of product, but a little of this stuff goes a long way so you don't really need a lot anyway. The coverage isn't flawless, but I think that might have more to do with my lack of professional technique than the foundation itself - but hey, I'm workin' on it!

I've been swooning over the Too Faced Sweetheart blushes for months now and I'm so stoked to finally own one! The packaging alone is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, but the product inside is also pretty fab, here's the description:

'Sweethearts blush was developed with easy application and a no-fail colour palette in mind--to take the guesswork out of creating a sweet, romantic flush. It's the little black dress of blushes. With three perfect swatches, you can just swirl the colours together and apply, or use more of one shade for a custom flush or highlight.'

I bought it in Candy Glow, and glow it certainly does. It takes a few applications to build the colour up, but it provides a really nice glowy, pink flush, which is exactly what I want from a blush. But let's be real, I would've bought it even if it was terrible because the box is so cute.

So, what's the verdict? I LOVE these products, and it was so worth having to save my scratch for them because I know they'll last a long time. I'm really hoping to build on my makeup skills over the next few months so I'm excited to play with these products some more, and I'd highly recommend them if you've been considering purchasing them. Treat Yo'self!
